The new 64bit Flash plugin for Linux is cool.
Yesterday, the new 64bit Flash-Player browser plugin for Linux was unmasked in Gentoo’s portage tree. This version works great, from my point of view, much better than the previous versions.
The 32bit versions I’ve been using on Linux had an annoying problem (read bug) in that the stacking or layering order was incorrect. There are websites (examples are TomTom, Samsum, Armin van Buuren to name a few), which use Flash basically as a animated background for other simple HTML elements (typically menus). With the older plugins the for instance, menus would open below the Flash animation, so the menu entries became inaccessible, or in case of the Armin van Buuren website the whole website basically became inaccessible because the Flash animation is so big, that it completely hides the rest of the content. This all works much better with the 64bit Linux plugin.
