No quite happy after server change.

Well, I’m on a new server and I’m not yet a happy customer. Apparently the mod_rewrite module must be explicitly enabled, which isn’t yet the case for my account. Another problem is, that once a .htaccess file is somewhere in the tree, which is not empty, the browser get a you are not allowed to access ..... and the required changes can apparently only made after the weekend. So another wait is in order. I’m slowly getting sick to have to constantly contact the supporters.

Server Change immanent.

Recently I received a letter from my Webspace providers, that my Webspace will be moved to a new server located here in Germany. The switch should be effective starting at the beginning of December with November being a test period.

The switch will now already happen this week. I’m experiencing problems with email delivery through either the Web interface and Thunderbird. The supports guys see this problem as a good opportunity to make the move to the new server earlier, which is not a bad thing, since this site could have been a bit quicker recently. I’m going to take this as the opportunity to move to WordPress 2.3. I’ve been postponing this move for quite some time now.

Expect some hickups the next few days.
